3rd "Notenspur-Nacht der Hausmusik" // "Musik zu Hause in Leipzig" // German Music Archive of the German National Library in Leipzig // Saturday, 25 November 2017, 19:00

Dedicated to showcasing "Musik zu Hause in Leipzig", the "Notenspur-Nacht der Hausmusik" is being held once again this year. Public institutions and private living rooms will be turned for one evening into venues where bands and ensembles of all stripes come together to make music in front of a small audience in an intimate environment.

From the hot air gramophone and shellac records through to digital storage media: the "Historische Abspielgeräte und Tonträger" exhibition spans the period from the beginning of music recording to the present day, providing a fascinating insight into music history.

Monday to Saturday 10:00–18:00, closed on Sundays and national holidays

Virtual exhibition "Schmonzetten, Schmäh und Parodie" (Melodrama, snide humour an parody)

The virtual exhibition presents sound recordings with cabaret and satire from the 1900s to 1930s and makes them accessible online on YouTube. Cabaret stars of former times such as Willy Rosen, Claire Waldoff, Otto Reutter, Max Pallenberg, Fritz Grünbaum and Paul Nikolaus ridicule, caricature and sing about people, everyday life, art and the world in general.
