RSC Meeting 2016
The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) will meet November 7 until November 11 2016, in Frankfurt/Main, Germany at the German National Library.
The committee will continue to discuss the transition to a new governance model that is part of the commitment to ongoing internationalization of RDA and to collaboration with other cultural heritage description communities. Also on the agenda will be discussions about the impact of the FRBR-Library Reference Model on RDA and the restructuring of RDA Toolkit.
Proposals and discussion papers on specific topics, identified by prefix "RSC", are being posted on the RSC website. They are arranged by community or working group in the community proposals section.
RSC hopes to welcome colleagues from the European RDA Interest Group (EURIG), the ISSN Network, and IFLA’s ISBD and FRBR review groups at some sessions of the RSC meeting.
The RSC Meeting is for members only. Observers are welcome at open sessions and are encouraged to attend. The committee meets in closed executive sessions on Monday, November 7, and at the end of Friday, November 11. Please contact both the RSC Chair, Gordon Dunsire and the RSC Secretary, Judy Kuhagen, if you want to attend any of the open sessions.
Subject Cataloguing – Quo vadis?
Satellite conference associated with the annual meeting of the RDA Steering Committee RSC
4 November 2016 at the German National Library in Frankfurt/Main, 11:00-16:30
This international satellite conference, organized by the German National Library, the Swiss National Library and the Austrian National Library will focus on subject access from different perspectives. The needs of the library users, the cooperation between libraries and further cultural institutions and the requirements of a digital world have an impact on cataloguing rules and practice. RDA is an answer to this paradigm shift. The conference will focus to subject cataloguing and will engage to a wide discussion a wide discussion about all aspects of subject cataloguing involving the future work with standards in institutions providing cultural heritage.
Please note that all presentations and the discussions will be in English only, no interpretation will be available.
Registration for the satellite conference
The participation fee is EUR 40.00. A catering in the breaks will be provided. For technical reasons the fee must be payed in cash at the registration desk.
Photos and videos will be shot during the event for documentation purposes and then published as part of post-event reports on the website of the German National Library and possibly in other media.
