Cooperations
It is part of the German National Library's mandate to collaborate with national and international library institutions and other specialist organisations. It is therefore an active member of a large number of bodies, cooperations and projects.
Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB)
The declared aim of the DDB is to bring together and make available German cultural heritage online. The DDB has so far become the repository for the collections from several hundred cultural institutions such as museums, archives and libraries – and the numbers keep growing. 14 institutions are currently involved in the establishment and further technical development.

AGSDD – Arbeitsgemeinschaft Sammlung Deutscher Drucke
(Consortium for the Collection of German Prints)
The Consortium for the Collection of German Prints (AG SDD) is a collaboration between six libraries with the aim of establishing a comprehensive collection of printed works of German language and culture from the beginning of book-printing to the present, cataloguing said collection, making it available to the public and preserving it for future generations.
Consortium of Library Networks (AGV) and Cooperative Network Applications Working Group (AG KVA)
The AGV coordinates and facilitates cooperation between library networks when introducing and maintaining innovative services. The Cooperative Network Applications Working Group (AG KVA) develops solutions designed to improve the reciprocal use of data and is subordinate to the Consortium of Library Networks (AGV).
BSB-DNB-SBB programme
The aims of the programme organised by the Bavarian State Library, the German National Library and Berlin State Library are to strengthen the cooperation and collaboration between these institutions, to facilitate knowledge transfer and to promote staff development.

Conference of Directors of National Libraries - CDNL
CDNL is an independent association of chief executives of national libraries.
Conference of European National Librarians (CENL)
Objective is to consolidate the role of national libraries in Europe.

Europeana
Europe’s rich cultural heritage is made digitally accessible via Europeana, and can thus be used for people’s own work, for learning, or simply for fun.
European DDC Users Group (EDUG)
Objective: Professional international dialogue on issues specific to DDC and translation technology, as well collaborating on adapting DDC subjects to European conditions.
European RDA Interest Group (EURIG)
Objective: Bringing together European RDA user communities and people interested in RDA
GND – Gemeinsame Normdatei (Integrated Authority File)
Objective: The (further) development of an authority file for persons, corporate bodies, congresses, geographic entities, specialised terms and works. This above all serves the purpose of cataloguing resources in libraries,
The German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI)
The Federal Government and the states are funding the establishment of the German National Research Data Infrastructure. Their aims are to make systematic, sustainable improvements that will facilitate access to research data, to catalogue data that until now was mostly stored in decentralised repositories, and to make it permanently available to more users.
International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)
The IFLA is the global voice of the library and information sector.
International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC)
Global alliance of web archiving institutions to acquire, preserve and make accessible knowledge and information from the Internet for future generations.
International Standard Serial Number (ISSN)
Objective is to assign the ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) and create a bibliographic description for newspapers, serial publications, blogs, databases and similar that are published serially with no scheduled conclusion.
KIM – Kompetenzzentrum Interoperable Metadaten ( Competence Centre for Interoperable Metadata)
This network of metadata experts develops best-practice recommendations, fosters dialogue among users and organises training events.
Kompetenznetzwerk Langzeitarchivierung – nestor
Nestor is the competence network for digital preservation in Germany.

Objective: Bringing together Europe’s major academic libraries
GND – Authority data of the Integrated Authority File and Wikimedia
Objective: Linking the authority files to Wikipedia and since 2012 increasingly to Wikidata

NFDI4Culture – Consortium for Research Data on Material and Immaterial Cultural Heritage
NFDI4Culture is the consortium within the Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) that addresses research data on tangible and intangible cultural assets.
ORCID - Authority data in academia
ORCID® (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a standard with which academic authors can be uniquely identified and matched with their publications.
RaDT – Rat für Deutschsprachige Terminologie (Council for German-Language Terminology)
Supports and sponsors collaboration in the area of terminology,
RDA Board
Responsible for the strategic focus of the RDA (Resource Description and Access) standard.
RDA Steering Committee (RSC)
Manages the development and maintenance of the RDA standard globally
Standardisierungsausschuss (Committee for Library Standards)
Objective: Develop and maintain cataloguing codes and standards at the national and international level.

The Text+ consortium is working on developing a language- and text-based research data infrastructure.
Virtual International Authority File (VIAF)
VIAF combines several authority files in an authority data service hosted by OCLC.
ZDB – Zeitschriftendatenbank (German Union Catalogue of Serials)
Objective: Operate and further develop the German Union Catalogue of Serials (ZDB) as a data hub and bibliographic instrument for collectable serial publications.
