It is part of the German National Library's mandate to collaborate with national and international library institutions and other specialist organisations. It is therefore an active member of a large number of bodies, cooperations and projects.

Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB)

The declared aim of the DDB is to bring together and make available German cultural heritage online. The DDB has so far become the repository for the collections from several hundred cultural institutions such as museums, archives and libraries – and the numbers keep growing. 14 institutions are currently involved in the establishment and further technical development.

AGSDD – Arbeitsgemeinschaft Sammlung Deutscher Drucke
(Consortium for the Collection of German Prints)

The Consortium for the Collection of German Prints (AG SDD) is a collaboration between six libraries with the aim of establishing a comprehensive collection of printed works of German language and culture from the beginning of book-printing to the present, cataloguing said collection, making it available to the public and preserving it for future generations.

Consortium of Library Networks (AGV) and Cooperative Network Applications Working Group (AG KVA)

The AGV coordinates and facilitates cooperation between library networks when introducing and maintaining innovative services. The Cooperative Network Applications Working Group (AG KVA) develops solutions designed to improve the reciprocal use of data and is subordinate to the Consortium of Library Networks (AGV).

BSB-DNB-SBB programme
