Workplaces for the blind and visually impaired

There is one work station for the blind and one for the visually impaired at both the Leipzig and Frankfurt am Main sites of the German National Library.

These stations allow the visually impaired to search the catalogue and to use the Electronic Reference Library (EHB - Elektronische Handbibliothek) and the Internet.

The following equipment is installed at the PC work stations:

  • DIN A 3 scanner including OCR software
  • Braille display
  • Jaws for Windows screen reader
  • ZoomText screen magnifier software

Workplaces in Leipzig

Having completed an introductory session, users may book the work stations for use at the following times:

Monday - Friday 9:00 - 18:00
Saturday 10:00 - 18:00
